- "I am your archenemy, Katarn!"
[pause] "Um, okay. Are you hiding behind the dopey-looking robot or...?"
"No! No, I am the dopey-looking – I mean, no, I mean—"
"Hmpf. Doofus. Look, I don't know who you are, but if you want to even rate on my Top 50 biggest enemies, I'll need a curriculum vitae sent to my office. List your victims, your headquarters, your evil schemes, your henchmen, your annual income, sign it with your name and daytime phone number, and I'll get back to you."
- ―8t88, trying to impress Kyle Katarn
8t88 was a sad, deluded droid who for a brief time believed himself to be the archnemesis of Kyle Katarn. In truth, he was barely a blip on Katarn's radar, but he did occasionally work with Jerec, Katarn's real archenemy.
8t88 was a bookkeeping droid who went rogue... and performed countless instances of rogue bookkeeping. Families would wake up to discover their windows broken and their libraries properly alphabetized and their taxes prepared with careful itemized lists of deductions. This life of crime did not profit 8t88 very much, so he decided to branch out into blackmail and revenge. Actually, he had kind of a lame supervillain origin story, when a university professor replaced his head with the head of a much smaller droid, thus driving him crazy, with a lust for vengeance against all Humans.
The droid was working for Jerec when he discovered an info disc in the house of Morgan Katarn, who had just been murdered. 8t88 thought he could make a little extra money by blackmailing Kyle Katarn with the disc, but naturally, this made Kyle Katarn... very... angry. You could imagine what happened, but long story short, his head, torso, and lower extremities ended up in different galactic sectors.
Years later, Mara Jade Skywalker discovered 8t88's head in a junk pile. And probably had sex with it.
