- "Careful, Ben. We don't have enough road to get up to speed."
"Roads? Where we're going, we don't need... roads."
- ―Obi-Wan Kenobi, introducing some damn farmboy to airspeeders
Airspeeders were really fast—whoops, there it went.
But seriously, folks, airspeeders were flying cars that could zoom around within a planetary atmosphere, but couldn't leave the planet like starships. They were kind of like landspeeders, but with fewer traffic jams... and a much lower survival rate when it came to crashes.
On Coruscant, airspeeders were everywhere. Oy, vey, you could literally hop from one skyscraper to another just by jumping on airspeeders, like a bizarre game of Frogger. On Bespin, they used cloud cars, ugly orange airspeeders (Lando Calrissian later ordered them to be painted purple and gold and covered in spangles and rhinestones).
