A holocron was an information storage and retrieval device of mystical origins. As a conduit of the Force, such a device could, in theory, store an infinite amount of pornography data, as well as carry an imprint of a Force-sensitive individual's personality. Originally crafted by the Rakata, such devices were quickly adopted by the Jedi Order, as well as the Sith Order millennia later.

The main purpose of a holocron was to serve as a teaching tool, imparting wisdom to Jedi and Sith alike. Such mighty powers as Force disco or Force melt could be learned by accessing these devices, as well as gnarly lightsaber fighting techniques such as Jar'Jar'Kai. Most Jedi Masters and Sith Mega-Super-Overlords who were worth their robes ended up making their own individual holocrons before they, too, eventually died.
