Michael A. Stackpole is an author who created much of Rogue Squadron, including the infamous Corran Horn. He was also responsible for Ysanne Isard, Leonia Tavira, Erisi Dlarit, and Asyr Sei'lar. He was apt to have the dialogue in his novels sound like part of one massive idealistic lecture. To keep the readers from getting lost, everything needed to be explained, as when writing, an author often has to do some world-building. Stackpole did just that, and whenever things and situations would come up that needed further explanation, his characters would fill the reader in. It was helpful to do this, but also tended to break character, and the long-winded ramblings were unrealistic. No one talks like that, it's very unnatural. Though, where else would such things be explained? In the prose? Surely, good sir, you jest.
