— The mind trick at work

The galaxy-famous mind trick was a tool in the arsenal of virtually every trained Force-user. So simple and widespread was this power, that it was often among the first practical uses of the Force that every apprentice learned. Some Jedi and Sith, however, were able to take the simple mind trick to a whole different level, using it to persuade entire throngs of people. One Jedi Master, who would be known on Earth as Jesus Christ, was possibly the most skilled practitioner of the mind trick who ever lived.

Obi-Wan Kenobi was fairly decent at the mind trick; his apprentice Luke Skywalker, however, was not so much.
